Haiti Earthquake Emergency Response
Providing supplies and support to the areas affected by the disaster
Our dear friends at SOIL are touched by the outpouring of support following last weekend's disaster.
SOIL has decided to provide initial direct support to two local Haitian community leaders from the south that they have collaborated with since the 2010 earthquake.
They will take emergency supplies to the areas affected and assess the need.
We expect the need to be ongoing either in this capacity, or through directing support to other organizations as we continue to evaluate the best way to support these efforts.
All of SOIL's relief efforts will be conducted in partnership with trusted local organizations. Please keep spreading the word, and contribute if you can.
About SOIL
Since 2006, SOIL has been working in some of the poorest areas in Haiti to facilitate the community-identified priority of ecological sanitation, where human wastes are converted into valuable compost. SOIL's model simultaneously tackles some of Haiti’s toughest challenges – providing improved sanitation to people who would otherwise have no access to a toilet and producing rich organic compost critical for agriculture and reforestation.
